Faith > Discouragement

I know at times this life can be discouraging. Especially the times we are living in right now. Moment by moment can feel like an uphill battle, struggle and hardship heavy on the shoulders and mind. All one has to do is look around the world and see all the devastation, hate, injustice, poverty, peer pressures, sin, death… then easily become discouraged. And sometimes we don’t even need to turn on the news for discouragement to come knocking. Sometimes it’s reading a text from a friend or a phone call with bad news on the other end. Sometimes it’s financial. Sometimes it’s feeling ignored by someone you care about or looking in the mirror and feeling as though you never measure up. Or the worst of it, the most deep rooted pain we all face at some point in life.. grief. Discouragement is a part of life but it never has the final say. Let me remind you (and me) of Faith. Faith is greater than discouragement. Faith looks to the unseen, not the seen. Faith begins to cover us in hope as we fix our eyes back on Jesus who is seated on the throne. Faith begins to lead us back on track or carry us when we can no longer walk. While the enemy of our souls would love for us to give up and give in, we will look to our God. Our living God who promised to be with us in this. The one who takes us over every mountain and through every valley. Who lets us sail on easy water, the One who restores our soul! Oh, I might be a tad fragile right now, but my strength comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth! He alone is my foundation, I will NOT be shaken… and neither will you! Keep going sweet friend.

// prayer //

Lord, Thank You that I can place my hope and my trust in You. You are the solid rock on which I stand and I place all of these overwhelming feelings into Your hands once again. All my insecurity, all my fears, all my sorrow, everything that is trying to discourage me, I give to You. You have already defeated everything that comes against me and therefore I will not lose hope. Be with me now as I continue this day and be with all those who desperately need You. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
